Caters well for vegetarians, & special requests. Thai food minus the excess sugar. Great dining with friends & family. Wish they'd open a bit later in Friday & Saturdays.
The food is very nice and at a reasonable cost. Service is generally pretty good but at times can decrease a bit. They also do take away. Staff are professional
On Tuesday 7th March 2017, my wife and I lunched at our neighbourhood Thai restaurant – Red Chilli Thai. As local Forest Lake residents, we have been dining here once in a while ever since the restaurant was set up many years ago.Rather than opt for a lunch special, we decided to order from the dine-in menu. Our main meals were Lamb Pik Khing & Pad See Ewe (with beef). The Lamb Pik Khing (Dry stir-fried curry with Coconut Cream and Kaffir Lime Leaves) had very aromatic Thai flavours. An authentic and flavoursome dish which was served with steamed jasmine rice. The Pad See Ewe (Beef slices stir-fried with flat rice noodles with Vegetables, Garlic , Onion & Sweet Soy Sauce) was rather tasty and sweetish. We spiced it up slightly with chilli flakes provided in a shaker. Our drinks were coconut juice with slices of fleshy coconut kernel & virgin pina colada (pineapple juice blended with coconut cream). Both of these drinks were sweet and delicious. The service was friendly and the manager and waitress were both polite.
The vegetarian pad see ew was delicious. There is seating available outside, but inside is more comfortable. The food was served promptly and the service was pleasant.
You wouldn't know this place is here, on the outside it's just a little takeaway in a slightly run down shopping precinct. But, go inside, and it's amazing. My partner had been here before for a Christmas dinner, and insisted we went again. It's very small, just a few tables for eating at, but very clean, and inviting. The decor is modern, the plates are posh and the linen on the table is very clean and very restaurant-like, not takeaway-like at all.Staff are really friendly, and once you're inside it's easy to forget you're in a takeaway, it looks and feels just like a little friendly restaurant, and it is.The soft shell crab is amazing! As are the king prawns with garlic. If you've never had soft shell crab before, you MUST try it. It comes in a very light batter, deep fried, and you eat the whole thing, claws legs head and all. It's wonderful! We demolished the lot!We had a totally delicious meal, though we both felt the amount of salad and carrot was too much, and we felt bad at leaving so much of it. There was enough salad to feed a small army! Way too much, please just concentrate on the delicious food we ordered, and got.Prices are reasonable, we paid about $40 for a meal for two. And they were happy to bag up our leftovers to take home.Being a takeaway, there are no toilets, save for a shed out the back which you need to ask for a key to. And it was stifling hot in the loo, as we went on a very hot day. No ventilation or window or anything. In summary, of course we'll go back again, the soft shell crab is to die for, the prawns wonderful, and the service quick and friendly.
