We ordered a couple of take away coffees on our way home from camping and they were absolutely disgusting. Instant coffee would of tasted better. They were burnt, watery and bitter. We ended up throwing them in the bin and buying more in a nearby town. Maybe it was a one off, but we certainly won't be back.
This is a great little shop supporting a great local tourist initiative. There is no secret this cafe is there for the riders visiting Forrest. Good selection of coffee, milk shakes, sweets and food for before or after a ride. What surprised me was the quantity and selection of bike parts, helmets and gloves etc. If you get stuck with a mechanical there is a good chance there will be a fix here. I ended up hiring a bike as I destroyed mine a few days earlier. The hire process online was easy and pick up and drop off seamless. Andy the owner is great to speak to for local trail info as well. The coffee may not be to barista perfectionism but is great at the end of a ride and this shop has done what it sets out to do perfectly.
This little gem is basically a spot for cycle enthusiasts, they hire bikes get information about the best cycle tracks in the area as well as supply light snacks, cakes and pastries. I find an earlier comment that their coffee was poor quite interesting as I came here to praise their coffee. . I stood behind a young foreign cyclist (Italian he said) who told the barrista he had had three great coffees in Australia and the one he had at the Corner Store was one of them. My comment yes the coffee was excellent, good strength, great crema, perfect temperature not to cool but certainly not burnt as some coffees can be. But try it yourself and make your own decision.
Unfortunately the coffee isn't that good. It's a little cafe catering for the bike market and has recently changed owners. The caramel slice was good though. Unfortunately for the Corner Store there is now competition in Forrest so they will have to lift their game to survive.
Tucked away from the main road, this places has a good menu selection and useful tools for the mountain bikes. You can hire decent bikes from here too. Thoroughly recommend the caramel slice too.
