Captain D's - Fort Dix

I had a fantastic experience at Captain D's! The fish and chips are outstanding, and the sides surpass anything else within a 50-mile radius of JB-MDL. In fact, it's the only Captain D's within 150 miles of the base. The hush puppies are exceptional too! Unfortunately, AAFES has made the questionable decision to close Captain D's down starting October 31, 2014. This is truly a bad choice.

Their deal of 24 K-Cups for $14.99 is much better than what you find with most coffee clubs, where you typically pay the same price for just an 18-count box. The flyer lists prices as $12.99 at other locations, which might be because the base doesn't impose sales tax, thus affecting the pricing. Even supermarket boxes go for about $8.99 for only a dozen, with no option to select your preferred flavors. In every way you look at it, OneCupJoe offers great value. They provide an extensive selection, from highly caffeinated coffees to teas and hot chocolates. You can mix and match different types, allowing you to sample everything instead of ending up with a box of coffee you don’t enjoy after trying just one K-Cup. This location also sells full boxes and offers the option to brew a single cup for just $0.99 so you can taste a flavor before committing to a full box. That's a brilliant idea! The person behind this concept is truly impressive, expanding the business and opening new locations. I really hope they make their way to my area. I visit JBMDL every few months, and I can guarantee that this will be one of my stops.

I went looking for another café option on McGuire, but I couldn't find it. I called the number listed, but it was connected to the main exchange, and they didn’t have any information about it. It seems like it must have closed down.
