The adult beverages were diluted, which feels like they're taking advantage of tourists—so be cautious. Having worked in the restaurant industry for several years, I found the service to be quite disappointing.
We visited last night for some drinks and a bite to eat. The server at the upstairs bar told us to go somewhere else if we didn't want to wait—this was after we had asked for menus at least five times over the course of 30 minutes and were starting to get a bit impatient. I've never encountered such poor and rude service before! Eventually, we received our food, which was of average to poor quality. There are plenty of better options in Fort Lauderdale, so I would recommend going elsewhere. Don't waste your evening at this place!
I really enjoy the bar and its atmosphere. However, both times I visited, my tab ended up being around $200 because, without my knowledge, anyone who joined me had their drinks added to my bill. I never offered to buy drinks for anyone, and it was awkward for me to ask everyone to cover their share. I think I'll look for another bar in the area.
The location, food, staff and service at Pirate's Republic is wonderful. I fell in love with the place until I heard the owner talking to his band and various staff members, especially his treatment of a bartender. I am by no means a vigilante, but this man, Roberto, is so cheap and DEMEANING to everyone around him that I cant imagine how he keeps his staff (or anyone for that matter) around him. He is so cheap he made a bartender cry for accidently pouring someone a double instead of a single and embarrassed her in front of a customer, and the young male customer was upset and trying to pay for the extra liquor but Roberto insisted she (the bartender) pay for it. It was upsetting and disturbing and ruined what would have been a lovely experience. I would never go back simply because I’d hate to put any money in this monster's pockets.
We go to the beach bar when in town and we were looking forward to checking out the restaurant. It is decorated at expected, with pirate flags and other skull items we had seen (and sometimes purchased) in their pirate store. The menu is long with plenty of seafood dishes and burgers to choose from. I had the oyster sandwich, which at first I thought was weird, but had to try. I'm glad I did. It was great. The workers are mostly pretty girls so needless to say it added to the nice view of the water. We got there early when it opened so it was a little quiet. Next time we'll have to come back at night to check out the party bar upstairs.
