The owner meet us at the door and it was uphill from that point on. Our waitress was excellent and seemed to have as much fun with us as we did with her. We started out with pitchers of beer, and then they brought the food. It was great, just like the place. This is a must go to place for fun and great food.
I can 't say enough about how really good this place is. I first went here back in '69 and left the area finally in 1980. In between, I worked large motor yachts as engineer, making friends and meeting people on the way. I always recommended the Southport and always will. Its standards are above reproach and the quality of service is second to none, as are its food and fine ice-cold beers. It 's still the best Spiced Shrimp I 've EVER tasted and the happy hour call is the best value for money sea-food plate I 've ever come across. Thanks again for showing me the way to have fun!
We were a group of five people from a computer club who chose the restaurant because of the wi-fi availability and were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had broiled dolphin with a large serving of a medley of vegetables that were cooked to perfection. The dolphin was tender and tasty. The menu had a variety of popular priced dishes. It was a very good find and worth a repeat visit.
The SouthPort Raw Bar was selected because it had wi-fi available and because of its popular-priced menu. As it turned out service was the star here. The wi-fi was great but no electrical outlet limited usage to battery storage. My order of fish dip was huge and delicious and easily enabled table sharing for 5 of us and my clam chowder was thick and tasty with enough clams to satisfy. The grilled dolphin serving was huge and the rice accompaniment was mammoth – cooked perfectly. Another word on service: Our waitress was extremely friendly, exceptionally helpful in selecting our choices and very attentive. Besides the team waiting we were assisted by the very friendly manager who put together two tables for our party and later checked to make certain all was OK. Twice we were visited by the chef to also ascertain that all was OK. The wide variety of choices (heavy on the seafood) will allow anyone to return often to try other delectable soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees and deserts.
I felt like a tourist during my one visit. The staff is very friendly and everything we ordered was really good. It’s the place to take out of town visitors for a real Fort Lauderdale fish experience. It was a good meal and everyone seemed to be having a fun time.
