Beware careful when getting your Total amount to pay... .ASK FOR A PRINT RECEIPT.... they do not tell you the 15 tip is included in the total, and then when they give you the Electronic machine to sign, it appears an additional tip that does not say is additional to the one they charge first. We asked for a print receipt and that is how we realized they are taking advantage of customers.... Never else going there!!
First patrons in today when they opened! This spot did not disappoint! My partner and I visited this spot for the first time today. We were greeted with enthusiastic smiles from the two hostesses, and our waiter Amadeo was simply the best! He made great menu suggestions that we took and were not disappointed! We got a variety of items to try, and it was all tasty! We will definitely be back to try the other menu items soon!
We went for Happy Hour. The first strike was no physical Happy Hour menu. It's verbalized by the wait staff. Seriously?? My outing now consists of me having to memorize the long list of items she rattled off and expect me to ask questions, then remeber the list, ask what's on the list again, take in the ambiance, etc.....just give me a menu to look at PLEASE! I did all my memorizing in college THANK YOU! Now, to the meat of the matter. STAY AWAY from this place if you want good sushi. Or, come here if you want bad sushi. The sushi is comparable to Publix sushi, or even worse, buffet sushi. Not that good. The steamed gyozas we ordered were way over steamed. They were mushy and falling apart. We also ordered spring rolls that were over fried and greasy and to top it off, our waitress brought out an extra roll she claimed I ordered which I DIDN'T. She never apologized for the mistake or offered to take it off. Being that she claimed to be the manager (her name is Leidy) you would think she would have had the politeness, the authority and customer service awareness to have done something about It. Instead, she brushed it under the rug and never mentioned to right her wrong. The icing on the cake was when I received the small handheld device to make my payment. She handed it to me and just smiled. Since I always take my time to check my bill for mistakes or discrepancies, I noticed two things, that in my eyes, were off. First, they charge $1 for ponzu sauce. Very CHEAP on their part. It's not that I cant afford one dollar, but why are charging me for ponzu which is citrusy soy sauce and you don't charge for soy sauce? I've been to soooo! many sushi restaurants and have never been charged for ponzu sauce. Ridiculous! They even charge for Siracha! Unbelievable! Secondly, there is no transparency that 15% is automatically added to the bill. By transparency I mean our server never divulged this information and pretty much left it up to me to see it on the screen. It made me feel like if I unknowingly would have left her another 15% to 20% gratuity on top of the automatic 15% tip she wouldn't have said anything. Just my gut feeling. In my experience, servers that don't tell their customers about the automatic gratuity are trying to double dip. I felt hustled! I'm not going to say the whole experience was crappy because it wasn't. The service was good. It's just that my first impression wasn't as pleasurable as I thought it would be and I probably won't go back. Too many choices as far as restaurants to have to deal with this. And by the lack of response by management or ownership to any of the reviews on this site, things won't change.
This is a lovely restaurant. The waiter was courteous and prompt with the service. The food was good overall, although I won't be ordering the miso soup again; it seemed like they simply reheated it, which detracted from the authentic flavor. However, the sushi was outstanding and delicious. The presentation of the food was quite elegant, too— they even decorated the plates with cute animal drawings using the sauces!
I ordered the chicken teriyaki for myself. The food was tasty, but honestly, the portion size was laughable—I finished it in about 5 minutes. I've never written a review before, but I felt compelled to share my experience since I paid nearly $18 for just two scoops of rice and around 13 pieces of chicken. I've never felt more cheated, and I’ve actually been robbed before! I had to warn others about this outrageous pricing. I can't believe this is allowed to happen!
