Contribuisci feedbackI've been visiting this restaurant for about three years now, and it's my favorite sushi spot in the Edmonton area. I typically order sashimi, maki, and large rolls, and they're all fantastic—there's no fishy taste at all. The tempura is also outstanding. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check out Hanabi; it's the best restaurant in Fort Saskatchewan. Food: 5/5
They didn’t have many options for gluten free. Most sushi places I have been to have gluten free miso soup (theirs is not) and the waitress wasn’t sure and I had to tell her to ask for me. Not a place I’d go again. Plus side it’s cheaper than other sushi places, but you get what you pay for.
Every time I visit this establishment, I always leave completely satisfied. Their portions, quality of food, and customer service are always incredible. The owner, Jay, always makes an effort to greet customers and ensures all feel welcome in his restaurant. Hanabi has and always will be my go to whether I want to treat myself with a delicious meal or if I want to celebrate an occasion with family or friends.
All sushi is bland no tasteWasabi is a powder not real not even hot to tasteGyoza was not cookedPhilly roll is to have smoked salmon wrapped around it and it didn't. I ate here lots before it has new owners.I guess you will say anything to get a Canadian sitt . Maybe I should go to Japan and say I am a sushi chef. Stay away unless you enjoy not authentic food.
My boyfriend and I often opt for sushi on date night, and we usually go into Edmonton or St Albert to Watari or Sushi Toshi for all you can eat. We live in the Fort so felt like it might be nice to try the local sushi spot. This having good reviews, we went tonight for date night hoping to find a closer option that made us happy. Our biggest concern was whether they could accommodate gluten free as I’m gluten intolerant and to our delight they were very accommodating of that on their menu. Our server was very friendly and prompt, and confident in informing us about any allergens. We were excited to taste our favorites here as we do at all the new spots we go to. We ordered our favorite types of sashimi and nigiri to start and had some rolls on the way. I took one bite of my salmon and almost spat it out. First thing was the texture: it was slimy and chewy, and then the flavor hit me. It was not clean tasting as fresh salmon sashimi should be: it was sour and fishy and left a weird metallic flavor in my mouth which freaked me out. My boyfriend looked worried watching me eat it and gave his a try and agreed that it was off. I eat my sashimi without gluten free soy sauce as I love the natural flavor on its own so I am also very familiar with how the fish on its own should taste and I trust my gut when it comes to off tasting sea food. I let the server know when she came back and by then I had also tasted the nigiri. The rice tasted overly vinegared not the nice light sweet rice vinegar flavor that I love in the average nigiri but it tasted like normal white vinegar, again off and sour, and the rice itself felt stale texture wise. The server was really apologetic and said at least the fish would be taken off the bill and we asked for it right away because our confidence in the freshness and edibility of the food had waned. She came back and very apologetically let us know that the manager owner would not take the fish off the bill and we would be paying for all of the uneaten food that had come to the table, and would sit there after we left. We didn’t eat anything else, paid $50 for a couple bites of sour raw salmon, and left, amazed at the lack of a manager coming over to check if there was anything they could do, amazed that we were asked to pay, and feeling really badly for the server who looked embarrassed that she had to take our money in the situation. Needless to say, we won’t be going back. Not sure how this place has managed to get these reviews but maybe people know what day their fish delivery is and go then. The principle of making your customers pay for fish that nauseates them though is worth writing a poor review and discouraging others from going and risking either bad fish or bad customer service on the part of the business itself (again, the server was lovely and this was completely out of her hands). Good luck, fellow Fort Sask sushi lovers. Maybe pass this one by.
