Contribuisci feedbackThis is a really nice place. Well-made, well-thought out dishes with a Japanese influence. They have tonkatsu, kalbi, spaghetti (sometimes), butter chicken. We will definitely return because the food tastes good, it is good quality, the chef seems dedicated and consistent, the service is friendly, and in an age when some restaurants are jacking up their prices, they've kept their prices reasonable. The only negatives are that generally there are only tables for 2 at 808 Sheridan, and because everything is carefully made to order, if one or two parties are in front of you, it could take a little while, maybe 15-20 minutes. Last, a couple of people have commented on the creative liberties taken with their take on kalbi. They are generally fusiony here, and while the kalbi plate was very good and I'd get it again, it is fair to say, it is distinct from most kalbis, but very good and tender, almost more like a roast. I also love that the bentos come with a delicious little salad, some pickled vegetables, and a well made curry potato salad.
Great Taste and perfect price point with great value Great Taste and perfect price point with great value Great Taste and perfect price point with great value
Really creates an amazing flavor profile! You can tell the chef cares deeply about his work and the taste of what he makes. Superb.
I haven't actually come to this restaurant but I've eaten their food twice now. I've had the tonkatsu and chicken nanban. The tonkatsu was kind of dry but not greasy. The curry potato salad was really good. The chicken nanban was so tasty and not greasy. I didn't think that tartar would go good with fried chicken but it does.
The chef makes amazing bento! I tried the Hire Katsu Bento (Pork Tenderloin Katsu) from the August Monthly Special Menu. The bento came with rice, salad, and side dishes. Each component of the dish went well together and had great flavor. The katsu was juicy and crispy, and the portions were filling and certainly worth the price!Compliments to the chef and his wife who take time to talk to their customers and make them feel at home. The restaurant is located on the second floor and has nice two person balcony seating. If you’re looking for authentic bento in Honolulu, Sho’s Kitchen is the place to go!
