Our server, Wendy, knows how to cater to both locals and tourists as well as loyal patrons and newcomers. The staff is very friendly, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. The chef they currently have is also rated five stars! We specifically requested a fresh and delicious Southern-style breakfast, and the staff kindly allowed us to stay after hours to enjoy it. This is outstanding hospitality at its finest! None of the three locals in our group have ever experienced service as incredible as what we received at Neighbor Café! My first visit was the best meal I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this place—there are ZERO COMPLAINTS! If I were a food critic, I would give it a perfect 5/5 for cleanliness, management, customer satisfaction, and food quality. It’s the ideal spot for breakfast. I had three sausage links, a meat lovers special omelet, bacon, hashbrowns, toast, and Hill Brothers coffee along with sweet tea. Thank you for the exceptional respect and service shown to employees and customers alike. We will definitely be dining at Neighbor Café for years to come if they continue this way! - Local Emerald/Gulf Coast Amber Barlow, Fort Walton Beach, FL
I absolutely adore this little spot! The atmosphere is so friendly and cheerful. The food is consistently fantastic! It does tend to get quite busy, but I’ve never had to wait for a table. Come hungry! I wish I could remember our server's name—my apologies—but she was truly exceptional. She was a young lady who really made our visit special. Now, let’s not keep the queen waiting!
Increased prices and reduced portion size. Great staff and food is great, but they have priced me out as a customer. $14 for four slices of French toast? They were always a local place that everyone could afford, but no longer. So sad. I know it's hard right now with the economy, but it's hard for everyone. It feels like tourist gouging, but it's typically been a place for locals. I'll stick to Waffle House and Cracker Barrel where the food is just as good but $5 less per meal per person. Service was great, and everyone was friendly, facilities were clean, but prices are not worth the food you get. Edit: Okay, added a star. Their bacon is out of this world.
I was more than disappointed with a flat $15+ omellette advertised on their menu as, SUPER SIZED! ... Our home fries were large and had a burnt grease taste to them. Neither of us ate them. My wife 's sausage gravy and biscuit were good, but the biscuits were flat with no rise to them. BEWARE of the Ala Carte pricing. Service started off ok, but I never received the ketchup I asked for when I placed my order or tea refills. My wife finally went to the hostess station before we left to get a refill on my tea. Overall; it was a poor breakfast choice. The restaurant was semi busy ~9 am with lots of tables available. Our visit may have been a one off based on other reviews, but I can guarantee we 'll never be back so our seat will always be available at Neighborhood Cafe... Mgmt not notified... Wife add 's our waitress was no where near overwhelmed with tables. I sincerely hope everyone 's experience is better than ours if you choose to eat here. Pictures are worth a thousand words...
I called to order French toast, scrambled eggs, and turkey sausage. It felt a bit strange that the person on the phone couldn't tell me the price of the food. When I arrived at the restaurant, they charged me $21.57, and my order was incorrect. I spoke with the manager and explained that when I asked for the price, I was told they couldn't provide it until I got there. Once I arrived, I noticed the menu right next to the register and asked why I wasn't offered the special for $13.99. The manager said it was just a half order of French toast, which I accepted. Although she did give me some of my money back, I still left feeling frustrated and unlikely to return. The food wasn’t great either! The eggs were not scrambled; they were just fried and reheated. The staff was polite, but overall, my experience was disappointing.
