We couldn't resist getting some gumbo and boudin balls as well. I ordered the blackened pork chop, which came with mashed potatoes, greens, and cabbage. My friend had a pasta dish called Pastalaya, featuring shrimp, crawfish, chicken, and sausage in a spicy cream sauce. The service was fantastic in this charming little spot that used to be someone’s home. I noticed the same chef who was highlighted in a write-up displayed beside me, and it was clear she’s been receiving accolades for her Cajun cuisine since at least 2018, all while still cooking in the kitchen herself. This place is incredibly undervalued considering the quality and quantity of the food!
I visited the restaurant just before closing on a Sunday, but they warmly welcomed me and took my order right away. It was my first time there, and their recommendations were fantastic. I decided to try the fried chicken, accompanied by sides of Red Beans and Rice and a Cup of Gumbo. The Gumbo was excellent, featuring two large shrimp, while the Red Beans were equally delicious and packed with flavor. Now, let’s talk about the fried chicken. This was not your average fried chicken; it must have been marinated, then coated with spices, and hand-battered in a delicious mix. It was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and juicy, tender meat inside. I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking authentic Cajun cuisine (I'm from Southwest Louisiana). I didn't take any "before" photos because I devoured everything!
I’ve been wanting to try this place and see the new scene on Race Street. Great ambience and very friendly staff. Turned out to be owner’s sister and niece. Food was excellent. Maybe a thicker roux and more seafood in the gumbo, but the Shrimp Victoria and red beans and rice were superb. And any flavor of bottled Abita. I had two Turbodogs. I will be back. Nice to see that area of Fort Worth reinvent itself.
We had an amazing lunch today.. loved the Cajun influenced menu items. The crab cakes were delish. I will also say my **** Mary was on point. We will be back!!
The Gumbo and Shrimp Remoulade were so good. I could have had five more cups of the gumbo to be a happy girl. The Fried Okra was really good too- very fresh. I can’t wait to go back.
