This weekend, we visited Wabi Sabi Sushi. Upon arrival, we noticed a sign indicating that they were only offering takeout. As I’m not particularly fond of takeout, I was a bit underwhelmed right from the start. They had bento boxes on the menu that included sushi, miso soup, a salad, and a choice of appetizer. My daughter ordered a classic bento with shrimp tempura rolls, while I opted for a supreme bento featuring a crunchy roll. My son chose orange chicken with fried rice and miso soup, and my husband got orange chicken with steamed rice, alongside a monster roll and the heart attack appetizer. While I'm not a big sushi fan, I found it just okay (though I think Kroger's is still better). Unfortunately, the orange chicken and rice were not good at all. Overall, it was just mediocre, and I wouldn’t choose to go back.
We started with crab rangoon and shrimp tempura, which were decent and well-presented, giving us a glimmer of hope. However, everything went downhill from there. The bento box was a disaster—unappetizing in appearance, and the meat (which I couldn't even identify as pork or chicken) was tough and seemed like it had been sitting around for days. The dumpling, which looked like a crab rangoon, was crispier but still just average. The rice was stale and inedible, and the miso soup was the worst I've ever tasted; it didn't even resemble miso soup. The sauces provided were mediocre, and the salad consisted mostly of lettuce with just a few carrot slices, which was very disappointing. I was hoping the sushi would save the meal, but it was even worse: too much rice, unpleasant-smelling cream cheese, and fish that tasted far from fresh. I was still hungry but couldn't finish it. Thankfully, I only ordered two specialty sushi rolls, thinking I might order more if they were good! Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. The food quality was extremely poor, and I won't be coming back.
I walked in and found immediately that they are byob which means no sake. Usually when I am on the road I have sushi and sit at the sushi bar but their sushi bar was closed. They make it in the back which makes me nervous. I got the rainbow roll tuna nigiri. It wasn't good. Hope I don't get sick
We always order to go, so I can't review how dine in service is but the sushi is always super yummy and fresh. This is our favorite sushi spot and we've tried almost all of them in our local areas. I love all the ginger they include. You must try the Geisha roll!!
