L'Orangerie - Francueil

We didn’t have time for a sit down lunch at the restaurant as we were only doing a day visit to the Loire Valley. However we were hungry after our visit to Chateau Chenonceau and decided to takeaway some fish and chips and salad. Even for takeaway, the food was fabulous and we had a good time digging into our lunch inside the car as we headed to our next chateau to visit. If you do have the time, this is definitely a good place to stop for lunch.

What a perfect place to eat lunch after a morning spent immersing ourselves in the history of this glorious château. Chenonceaux will take your breath away and a little of its stardust can be yours if you reserve a table at L’Orangerie. We enjoyed a delicious meal served by delightful staff.... highly recommended!

I highly recommend booking lunch at L’Orangerie if you’re visiting the Château. The service, food and setting were exceptional. Excellent menu with plenty of variety and fixed price options. Keep an eye out for the cheese trolley... it was amazing! The garden setting and floral arrangements were stunning.

Visited the chateau to see the gardens and while interesting, they are just not up to the level of those at Vilandry which, if you are a gardener, is where you want to go. But this restaurant is superb and well worth sitting down and enjoying a leisurely lunch if you have the time. To sit outside on a balmy afternoon, looking out onto rich green grass and old old trees and in the distance, the chateau gleaming white in the sun, well, it hardly gets any better than that. The service is superb, the menu choices either for a formule or a la carte delightful. As many note, the cheese table is a true treat. I had a small degustation from it, choosing this and that, and was very happy. The setting is a delight: as Mel Brooks noted, it's good to be king!
