I'll start this review by saying that, I'm not a bourbon drinker BUT our experience here was fantastic! We got in line on Saturday 6/17 and Sunday 6/18 for their special release. The releases were Weller and Blanton. My boyfriend really wanted the Blanton, which was released on Sunday. We waited in my for about 2.5 hours and were approximately 40 50th in line. By the time the place opened at 11, there were probably over 500 people in line. Saturday wasn't so busy (probably because Weller isn't ad popular). We each got a bottle each day with no issue. We found out about an hour before each opening what the release was. Pro tip the bathrooms are not open that early. Also, take a chair to sit on if you are going to wait in line and maybe an umbrella to block the sun.We, like most people, were unable to schedule a tour in advance. However, we asked at the wrist band counter and were able to get into one that same day. I highly recommend trying this and doing a tour if you can. Kathleen, our tour guide, was amazing! The tour is free and includes a free tasting (you can even get a free tasting without the tour). I found it fascinating how bourbon is made and the history. It's great for drinkers and non drinkers alike. This was my favorite stop of the trip!
This Place was absolutely amazing. We absolutely loved coming here and it was an amazing experience. We were lucky to have Freddy as our tour guide. He was incredible and made our experience perfect. If you are interested in getting good bourbon, you gotta stand in line early in the morning each day. We got in line at 8am for two days in a row and got Blantons and Eagle Rare.
My husband and I were fortunate enough to not only get a tour but be there on a Blanton's day. The tour with Bob G was awesome and fun. We stopped off at the woodworking shop after our tour and had a great conversation with the guys working there. When they found out it was our anniversary, they made us a custom piece! It made the whole day extra special!
I recently visited the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery during my trip to Kentucky, and the grounds were impressive! If you're hoping to snag some of their limited edition bottles, I recommend arriving early. The gift shop is fantastic, and it's a nice bonus that the tour is free. We took the "hard hat" tour, which provided a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the distillery. Don't miss out on trying a bourbon ball, along with some Freddie’s root beer and bourbon cream. It's a must-visit spot rich in American history!
