Port City Smokehouse - Frankfort

The whitefish cakes we had on Thursday were outstanding, so we decided to come back on Friday for more. However, we were disappointed to find that they were terrible and had a strong, unpleasant fishy taste, as if they were cooked in old grease.

This restaurant offers delicious dips including whitefish, lake trout, and salmon. However, I deducted one star for feeling pressured to tip after paying with a credit card. I will return, but next time I will pay in cash.

The restaurant offers a fantastic variety of smoked fish and meats. Definitely worth a visit!

We always stop whenever cycling through Frankfort. Lots of smoked fish varieties. On this visit I had a perch sandwich with fries. The perch excellently prepared and served and served on a soft pretzel bun. Too much Ben and not enough fish though. The fries were some of the best ever. I’d just get fish and chips next time to skip the bread.

We called in a takeout order for a whitefish sandwich, walleye sandwich and fries. They were excellent. They offer plenty of outdoor tables. Highly recommend.
