Had a terrible experience; two entrees were truly inedible (one pasta, one shrimp grits) and two were truly just meh. server was extremely pleasant but food took AGES. we took out-of-towners and were mortified at how poor the experience was (we had not been in maybe 2 years). I would not go back nor recommend this. While friendly and pleasant, the server also did not seem incentivized to try and rectify. We would have declined an offer to comp the food but this was not even offered, not was a replacement entree.
We had a terrific Sunday brunch here — the sweet potato and sausage skillet was delicious and the **** Mary was divine! A couple of our party members had the French Toast and they gave it a rave review, too! We were greeted promptly upon arrival and the hostess asked if we had ever been there, to the historic old pharmacy building (we hadn’t) and pointed out a lot of the history and architecture along the way to our table. Being the first Sunday after New Year’s, the white lights were still hung in trees on and around the stage and there was a jazz musician, which really added to the ambiance. I can’t wait to try the Shrimp Grits and the Pimiento Cheese Balls! While I was there I actually texted an out of town friend to tell her I’d found where we will go for **** Marys when she comes to visit. We will definitely be back!
Good food and service. However, the price of a single bourbon (Blanton’s) was an an outrageous $28.30. We spoke to the manager and she swore that was the actual price, blaming it on high Tennessee taxes. Well, we happen to know that a high-end restaurant down the street sells it for $15. We think they made a mistake and would not own up to it. Because of this we will not be back.
Wonderful food wonderful place! Can’t wait to go back and try everything on the menu.
