On our visit, we tried the "lamb pie" & the "chicken parma". Both meals arrived hot and were fresh & flavoursome. The "chicken Parma" won the meal of the day, the chicken was moist/tender, tomato sauce topping was a delight, perfectly melted cheese and a good sized serving. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the atmosphere was laid back and seating was comfortable.
We have had many great family meals in The Cove over the past five years, and this was about 6 months after our last visit and put simply I was left with the impression that prices have gone up and quality has gone down...The menu has been changed, prices seemed higher but we expected this was a seasonal change. However, when the food arrived the size and quality of the portions wasn't a match for the prices. So disappointing as quality has always been very good on previous visits. With newly refurbished restaurants opening in the main Patterson Lakes shopping centre, which we have been impressed with when we visited, unfortunately there are now better options in the area. Still good for drinks, but no longer the best option for a restaurant meal.
We had a family get together here recently, as we have on previous occasions. The setting is wonderful, the staff are great and the drinks are cold, but the food wasn't fantastic, especially for the price, my fathers porterhouse steak was tough, my salmon was over cooked and the two sauces on the plate had no connection with the dish, the corn & black bean base was nice.If you are going to charge higher prices, then present better quality food.
This week my hubby and friends enjoyed a fantastic evening at The Cove's special Winter Wonderland Wine Tasting and 5 course menu in The Wine Room and lounge area of The Cove.A few times a year The Cove's Executive and Head Chef put together special evenings to show off their culinary expertise. What a brilliant, well thought out evening it was. The evening included partnering up with local Mornington Peninsula Vignerons to pair up with the food. The evening was excellent, the food was flavoursome, interesting, creative and very well presented. The matching wines were delicious and the service by the staff was professional, warm and personal. Overall the evening was very good value for money with an abundance of fabulous food. So Bravo The Cove, well done.We look forward to attending the next special evening presented at The Cove.We are locals and visit The Cove often, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, special occasions in their gorgeous intimate function room and for catch ups with friends in The Wine Room. It's a great place with a classy but friendly and welcoming ambiance. The food and service is always good but the special evenings are always on another level. They are superb.
After seeing the sign out the front advertising new pizza menu my wife and I decided on a casual lunch. We live quite close to the cove and while we enjoy drinking and socialising there, we have never been impressed by the food. Unfortunately today's visit was the same. After ordering the pumpkin and feta pizza, my hopes were dashed when I noticed the waitress opening a shrink wrapped pizza behind the bar. Sure enough when our pizza was brought out it was soggy, bland and very unappetising. $15 is a bit rich for refrigerated store bought par cooked pizzas guys, especially when they are reheated by your bar staff in an oven behind the bar. It's disappointing they miss the mark by so much with their food, because the service is always great, the staff always friendly and the location and layout second to none. Will continue to visit due to its close proximity but will be avoiding eating here from now on.
