It’s a tad pricier but we decided to treat ourselves given that it’s not often we come across a German restaurant, and we were not disappointed. I had the duck breast which was cooked to perfection, topped with Jäger sauces and two delicious sides. The potato salad was really tasty. My boyfriend also loves his pork schnitzel. Service was truly above and beyond, and we also liked they had $10 wine on sale. Highly recommend!
Our daughter planned this for our 38 year Anniversary. BEYOND AMAZING food, service, wine beer!!!!!!! This place in a HIDDEN GEM in downtown Fredericksburg for sure!!!! We will DEFINITELY be back!!!!!!!!!!
5 star! Amazing food, atmosphere and service. a great evening. Thank you Deutschland Downtown!
I sat back with my dog and the dining experience was wonderful! My best friend is a 93-year-old German lady who taught me about authentic German food and it was delicious. I will definitely be coming back!
This restaurant has a lot of potential with its great location, beautiful decor, excellent beer and wine selection, and good service. The only disappointment for us was the food. We were excited to try this place as we are big fans of German food and beer. We started our meal with the Bavarian sausage and pan-fried pierogies. The sausage was just okay and the cheese dip we ordered for $2 extra was not what we expected - cold and hard to dip into. The pierogies were good but lukewarm, and I prefer my hot food to be served hot. For my main course, I ordered the pork specialty with sauerkraut and a side (I chose potato pancakes) but unfortunately, the sauerkraut was rancid and inedible. I had a taste of the schnitzel which was good, but the potato pancakes seemed dense and gritty. I had to send my food back (which I rarely do) but the staff were apologetic and replaced it with chicken with spaetzle and red cabbage, which was delicious. The spaetzle was chewy, buttery, and flavorful, the chicken was perfectly roasted, and the red cabbage was tasty and homemade. We also ordered the duck with Jager sauce, but the spice was a bit too strong for our liking, although the potato salad was good. We also had the apple strudel for dessert, but it wasn't particularly memorable. Our experience with the food was hit or miss, so I give it 3 stars. If they improve their food quality, this place could easily be a 4-star restaurant.
