This is one of the closest places and we've been ordering from them and have never had a bad experience! We've ordered from a few other Chinese places and Formosa beats them allhands down for taste and value. The staff is nice and the food is great! Kung Pao chicken is my go to! Always excellent! Mondaysmake me sad because they're closed, but makes Tuesdays more exciting lol.
Formosa Cafe was our favorite Chinese restaurant after we moved to the city in 2003. We usually spend more than $60 per order and have always been satisfied with the food. However, our experience two months ago was disappointing. We ordered through Beyond Menu and noticed that the menu was slightly different from what we were used to. The worst part was the food itself. We ordered extra spicy shrimp fried rice with an additional $5 for shrimp, but it was not good at all. The rice lacked flavor and the shrimp were soggy. My husband mentioned that the restaurant was under new management. I suggested they bring back the previous management, including the cook. Sadly, we now have to find a new Chinese restaurant. What a shame. SMH.
It was difficult to find a good Chinese takeout spot in the area, but we finally found one! We placed a special order requesting certain vegetables to be left out, and although they only got it half right, the quality and quantity of the food more than made up for it. We will definitely be ordering from them again, which is something we can't say for any other Chinese restaurant in the area. The owner is also a lovely and friendly person, which is a bonus. This is now our go-to spot for Chinese takeout. Two small critiques would be to cut the broccoli into smaller pieces and use leak-proof containers. Thank you Formosa!
In general, our experiences at Formosa have been good and I would give it 4-5 stars for its very tasty food. However, I am only giving it 3 stars this time because the last few orders we've placed have been missing items or incorrect. We attempted to make ordering easier by using their online system, which clearly outlines choices such as type of rice and spice level, but even then our last order included items we couldn't eat (such as fried rice with egg instead of brown rice with our entrees), the spice level was milder than requested, and a dish was missing an item that my child usually eats. While I will give them credit for their quick response when called, we have reached a point where we don't want to have to contact them every time we place an order. Unfortunately, it seems that the attention to detail at this restaurant has declined.
The best food Chinese… Exelent service thank you
