I have a dairy allergy and informed my waiter beforehand. I had the smoked sausage with sauerkraut and German potato salad. It was insanely good! I did NOT react! Yay!
This was the only restaurant I found in Fredericksburg that offered a genuine meatless protein option, which I really appreciated! We tried the meatless sausage plate and swapped the buttered corn for green beans (just make sure to request no butter). They also had a hummus appetizer with pita bread, celery, and carrots. The sausage plate comes with a dinner roll, which I’m not certain is vegan, so just keep that in mind. Overall, the service was good, the sausage was delicious, and the beer was great too!
We dined at the Biergarten, where I ordered the plant-based sausage plate featuring two sausages, either Beyond or Impossible—I wasn't certain which. They do offer vegan sauerkraut made without chicken broth. However, the French fries are fried in the same oil as the meat, so I opted out of those. While the menu has limited options, as others have mentioned, you can definitely find plenty to eat. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and our waitress was well-informed about the vegan choices available.
The meatless sausage plate features two sausages. The sides included can be a bit tricky since the sauerkraut is cooked in meat broth and the mashed potatoes contain butter. However, by choosing the red pepper hummus to go with the meat plate and requesting a side of fries, you'll have a satisfying meal while dining with your meat-loving friends.
