I absolutely love the fish and chips at Douglas Harbour. The portions are generous, the fish is moist and succulent on the inside with a crunchy batter on the outside. I also adore their gravy, which doesn't taste like flour as it does in some other restaurants.
This restaurant is a cozy spot to grab a quick and affordable meal. While some of the vegetables may be frozen, the mashed potatoes are real and the meatloaf is homemade. The turkey is always cooked perfectly. Overall, it's a budget-friendly, quick, and comforting dining option.
I ordered the turkey dinner and the turkey was extremely dried out and hard as rock. I couldn't chew it and could barely cut it with a knife! It was supposed to come with a potato and vegetable, but they were out of vegetables. My husband ordered a club sandwich and the meat was tough too. We both woke up in the night with cramps and diarrhea. The bathroom was so dirty that my shoes were sticking to the floor and there was some sort of a large hair ball stuck to the foot petal on the rusted old garbage can. This was our first time trying this diner and it will be our last. I think it should be inspected.
My wife and I stopped here on a whim. I had the best cheese burger platter I've had in ages. Really good! So was my coffee! Will go back! Hope you give this place a try, it's worth it.
