I first visited this restaurant in 1988 when I was working at an architecture firm nearby. It was fantastic back then, and it remains just as wonderful today. I wish I lived closer! Thank you, Rita!
The food was absolutely delicious, and the owner was incredibly friendly, offering great suggestions on how to order the sandwiches. It may seem unusual, but her advice was spot on. My friend and I shared a Reuben and a German brat bun, and both were among the best sandwiches I've ever tasted. Be prepared to spend at least $10 per sandwich, but trust me, it's worth every penny.
What a FIND! Just ate here the other day and was blown away. The place is part deli, part restaurant, but you feel like you’ve been transported to a grandmother’s house in Germany. So much to see, games at the tables and the food was cooked fresh for us. The owner even let us stay past closing time and was kind enough to offer a Kinder egg for our 9yo son. We’ll definitely be back again.
When it comes to sandwiches, I recommend trying the Reuben on dark rye (note that you can only choose your bread with a full sandwich; otherwise, it defaults to whatever she has ready for half sandwiches) or the currywurst served with a bread roll, cheese, and butter. For beer, the selection is limited but decent. If you enjoy a full-bodied beer with earthy notes, try the Korbinian doppelbock.
