I had to ask what is not a big son of a ****! the masala dosa was good, but not as tasteful as my fave Indian restaurant in berkeley (viks). they did not bring my friend to the ordered chai, although he was not busy.
I always came here with my family to get dosas before I was vegan. the vegan menu is smaller because they use ghee in many dressed, they just need to ask what is vegan (or without milk). according to the waiter, the masala dosa and normal size ilis vegan are what my mother and I ordered on the other day. wish that they will be marked clearly on the menu.
Large vegetarian South Indian cuisine. the service is fast, informative, good. the place is not fantastic, but in the evening weekend fully vibrating. this place is part of the great chain of india. they cannot go wrong with the order of idli it comes fast and is vegan. dosas can take 5 minutes, but are a great product try masala dosa or veg dosa if they did not have this before. have their butter milk (chaas is what some Indian restaurants call it). the thalis are also good if they want a complete meal. parking is in a large amount with other shops.
I'm not gonna eat here anymore. but I will review the eating because I support any restaurant that is all-vegetarian. we felt that some food was in order and we really liked it. but some that we did not touch after the first bit. Anyway, I'll write an update after I contacted the management. the main problems are trusting problems with the waiting staff and the kitchen staff (we were sick after eating there 2.5 hours) and, pay a fairly enormous $42 for our lunch bill (I always leave a tip, no matter which experience I have in a restaurant - I just never return if I have no pleasant). When I first asked our waiter about a problem, my man told me that he looked at me that I give the people the advantage of the doubt, so I spoke with our waiter three times during our meal. our waiter assured me he would take care of it. on my 4th, he deliberately lied with a smile, saw me in the eyes and tapped the side of his head with his fingers and said: no worries. I got everything up here when he left us our expensive lunch check. but our waiter has deliberately not taken care of it because a different waiter came and took our payment. When we left the door, I asked the host where our waiter went. oh, he went on break. if I called him back, I got crazy and told her, no! but I never came back. the problem: if they can't trust that their waitress integrity is a manager and personal training problem. after all the hidden TV camera exposés on the scary, insecure food practice kitchen staff were caught behind closed doors. I started worrying about eating that we had just eaten! my man had the executive platter and I had the lunch combination
The dosas are excellent and a lot of the dishes don't use ghee (though you should always check so a lot of things are actually vegan. I recommend all of the dosas and channa batura. The combos give you a nice range of different foods to try (including dessert) but they always include something with ghee, it seems. Service is average. The place is always hopping and sometimes you have to speak up to place your order or get the check! Updated from previous review on Wednesday June 19, 2013
