This was our first outing to Ruth’s Chris post pandemic so maybe our expectations were high…no…that’s not it, RC just missed the mark. Fabulous bartender saved the day or maybe getting us tipsy so we wouldn’t notice the shoddy service. lol. The good: filet cooked to perfection and an amazing bread pudding. Then there were the cocktails I had a Dirty Goose Martini and Ruth’s Manhattan double yum. The bad: I’m sure she tried her best but perhaps subconsciously Haley did not want to work on Christmas or maybe she’s new…. Either way, I ordered a wedge salad w/ blue cheese dressing and was served a quarter head of lettuce with dry blue cheese no dressing, no bacon, just lettuce and cheese. When we finally got Haley’s attention to let her know, she said she’d go in the kitchen and get me bacon and dressing. 5 minutes later she came back to tell me there was no bacon at all on property. Seriously? Seems like a detail to know. So I ordered a salad that essentially bacon is the only other item and no one bothered to tell the serves…not when order submitted…not when lettuce on a plate was taken and served…everyone figured I WANTED to pay $16 for lettuce? lol umm no…I don’t. I wasn’t even offered an alternative or discount. But it gets better…I had also ordered as one of my sides Brussel sprouts with honey and bacon…you see where I am going with this? Did Haley’s ask about my brussel sprouts nope and now nowhere to be found. I did manage to get her attention through another server before our food arrived. I asked her to cancel the Brussel sprouts (as there’s no bacon) and to add lobster Mac n cheese. Haley said I’m on it. So our food arrives: crab cakes filet and shrimp creamed spinach garlic mashed potatoes lobster Mac n cheese and Brussel sprouts no bacon
My steak was well done it should’ve been medium. Apparently they ran out of martini glasses and I couldn’t get my martini until well into the dinner.
This was a special night out, our waiter Alex was excellent and enchanting. The food is is top notch, the place is beautiful….always a sticker shock when the bill comes but you get what you pay for and that’s why it’s a special treat.
We had special birthday dinner. We ordered Tomhawks 40lb steak first time. We requested medium rare. It came just rare. So red and chewy. We usually go to Freming or Five. Never had chewy rare steak by ordering medium rare. Disappointed first experience Tomhawks steak. We should stick our usual restaurant. I told to waiter who came to clean up table and dishes. The young looking waiter said,” I don’t know. I will tell.” We will go back to Freming or five and champagnia restaurants. We never had served chewy rare by ordering medium rare. Waitress was very nice. However, meat was disappointed fatty red chewy. I thought Chris is specializing steak…. and must be good.
We were with Ruth several times and this is the first time we felt underwhelmed.
