At around 4:45 PM, the bar was empty, so I settled in happily. I ordered a bourbon old fashioned and a bowl of seafood gumbo (photos included). The gumbo delivered everything I hoped for in terms of flavor and freshness, with hearty sausage, perfectly cooked shrimp, and succulent bits of crabmeat throughout. For the old fashioned, I opted for Milam Greene Rye and was so impressed with both the flavors and the story behind this locally-owned distillery that I decided to sample more of their bourbon. I tried an ounce each of the Castle Hill Series and the Single Barrel (see photos). The Castle Hill was honestly the best bourbon I've ever had, boasting rich cherry notes and an incredible smoothness that surprised me given its 55 proof. The Single Barrel had a strong banana aroma and would have paired beautifully with my bananas foster, had I waited to drink it. Speaking of dessert, it was heavenly, and the kitchen was able to prepare it gluten-free for me. (They even have a whole gluten-free menu filled with more than just boring salads! See photo.) The bartender, James, was very knowledgeable and made fantastic recommendations. He presented me with the most extensive bourbon list I've EVER seen, and even offered options for creating my own flights. He also let me sample some other bourbons, which I look forward to exploring on future visits! I should also mention that the other patrons were friendly, the restrooms were impeccably clean, and I felt completely comfortable there, even though at 38, dressing like a mature adult isn't exactly a hallmark of my self-care days. This place truly feels welcoming, and I imagine I'll be back soon!
I really love this restaurant, but I just discovered that the happy hour is quite disappointing, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. My cousins wanted to visit for happy hour, and it turned out to be underwhelming. The drinks are only a dollar off, and the food discounts are just $2-3. Honestly, it's not worth the drive for happy hour. However, the food is fantastic, so I recommend going at regular hours instead. I really wish the happy hour offered better deals.
A new place on the map. The Rouxpour. If you don't like spicy this isn't the place for you. the gumbo with chicken and sausage is a nose watering spice but delicious it does have more juice then food. Thr red bean and rice is well balanced but also had akick of heart burn brewing. My daughter got the mac and cheese it was creamy cheesy and not over powering. She ate the beans andrice I at the mac lol. For desert we ate cheese cake. The creme burle was not as expected it was not like a custard more like awatery puddling. But it is a beautiful experience. But not a place to bring babies due to the loud drinking customers.
I had a wonderful experience, especially with the Cajun cuisine. The atmosphere is perfect for celebrating special occasions or just hanging out with friends and colleagues. The food was fantastic, and if you're a fan of gumbo, this is definitely the place to be. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even better. Overall, it was a great evening spent with friends at this restaurant.
This is a fantastic restaurant located in Baybrook Mall. We visited for the second time on a bustling Saturday night, and everything was excellent. Our server performed wonderfully, and the support staff was also impressive. The live band playing Sinatra added a nice touch to the atmosphere.
