The nachos and onion rings are fantastic and reasonably priced for ski food. However, the service leaves much to be desired. It took four attempts to get the dressing for our salad, and by the time it arrived, we had already finished our meal. Additionally, they mistakenly tried to charge us for a different table's bill, resulting in a long delay while they sorted it out. What should have been a 45-minute lunch turned into almost two hours due to the slow service and these issues.
My husband and I visited for lunch while switching off childcare for our young toddler, and we ended up waiting 30 minutes in pouring snow for a kids' cheeseburger and chicken wings. Our little one was becoming increasingly restless, and we ultimately had to make the difficult choice to leave. We didn't want to abandon our waitress with an incomplete order, but we also didn't want to ruin the experience for other diners who might have to endure a screaming toddler due to the delay. Sadly, this isn't our first frustrating experience at Downhill Duke's. There was one Friday before COVID when we waited an hour for nachos. It seems this place struggles with efficiency. We enjoy their food and particularly their nachos, but of the last five times we've eaten here, two of those experiences have been miserable. Even a visit without children was disappointing. Nobody wants to sacrifice an hour and a half of skiing to wait for nachos. Typically, restaurants—especially those at ski resorts—prioritize kids' meals to prevent situations like this. When our waitress saw us struggling with our toddler after 30 minutes without food, she suggested we stay and eat what she had brought out, stating that it was a busy Saturday. That’s simply not true. We've dined at Ten Mile Tavern more than ten times over the past two years and have never waited more than 15 minutes for food, even during peak hours. This isn't a crowd issue; it's a specific problem with Downhill Duke's that needs to be addressed.
This bar has a fantastic view of the slopes and often features a DJ, creating a lively atmosphere. The menu is more bistro-style, which is a nice upgrade compared to the three nearby restaurants. However, there were some drawbacks. The food took an excessively long time to arrive, and the bartender seemed to overlook some customers, leading to inconsistent service. While the food tasted decent, it wasn't anything extraordinary that would entice me to return. Additionally, the outdoor seating can get quite chilly when the fire pit isn't lit or the heating lamps are kept low.

One more thing to note is that the outdoor seating can get quite chilly if they don't turn on the fire pit or keep the heat lamps low.
