Tokos - Funchal

Food was good but nothing special. Drinks were overpriced compared to other restaurants in Funchal. £33 for bottle of Mateus Rose!. £15-20 elsewhere. £17 for 2 Amarettos. Just paid £8 for 2 in top hotel bar in Funchal

Excellent meal, cooked and served by the proprietor. Wine recommendation was spot on and not the most expensive on the menu. Ideal for special occasions (like our anniversary). Not cheap, but this place is something special so don't expect it.

The most fabulous authentic quality meal . We are going back soon . The service time can depend on how busy it Is . One chef owner and I imagine his wife as front of house . Lovely people. He knows his stuff when it comes to cooking , great fresh fish and the chateaubriand is flambéd in front of you and carved as you like it . Best to ask for some house wine as it is 7.50 euros a glass and good and the whole experience is memorable . 11 tables, 22 covers and well worth a visit.

Couldn’t recommend this gem enough. Food is amazing as is the service. Philip and staff always make you feel special. A truly unique experience and worth a visit.

Dinner here on Christmas Day was exceptional. Certainly a 5 star experience with excellent service. The food is superb and the price very reasonable. I recommend dining here without hesitation.
