I will be thinking about it for days. The staff five you your space while paying attention to your needs from a distance. I felt like I was in a little cafe in Paris.
Tried here for lunch on a sunny Tuesday in February. Got 30 min street parking out front and decided to take the risk, knowing we'd be closer to an hour, which we were, and luckily no ticket. The front door had a sign on it to use the side door due to cold temperatures in the winter to keep it warmer inside, although it was still a bit chilly inside). Seating for maybe 30 amongst several two and four-seater basic wooden tables. Small, very clean, lots of colorful artwork on one wall, natural lighting, a display case of desserts by the cash, with a tiny kitchen, run by the owner. He is incredibly friendly and welcoming, although the server took a bit long to take our order, food didn't take that long to come. I tried the Mediterranean Veggie Mezze Platter $9.95 a selection of veggie dips with pita). This was tasty and fresh, not a big portion, but adequate for lunch. My friend tried the Lamb Kofte on rice pilaf with side garden salad $3.75). homemade grounded lamb meat mixed with spices grilled. $9.95). The lamb was seasoned very well and a small portion. The rice was also nicely seasoned basmati rice, but plain. It would benefit from a yogurt dill or cucumber sauce to dip the meat into. The salad was dressed lightly but simply with olive oil, lemon, and balsamic, but tasty. I'd like to come try the breakfast here one weekend.
Welcoming, clean, good parking, I can say I'm a fan. We were seated and I sought the washroom and I spoke to the proprietor en route. He warmly shook my hand and welcomed me to his business. They were very proud of the establishment, and in a era where ethnic restos tend to end up in lower rent areas, this place is really quaint and nicely done. We ordered a couple of San Pellegrinos, and I asked the owner if he had the the Turkish beer I like at Effendy. They are licensed and promised me a bottle if I returned. Given the quality of the food and the warmth of the owners, Ill be back for that brew. One slightly downside is that they are a little too anxious to check on you and this distracts slightly, but they work hard to please. Congrats Agora.
Nice, cozy place, very friendly people here. Very good Hummous and vegetable Botek, good Turkish coffee too. Recommend to all. New Menu coming, sorry I won't be in Halifax to try, returning to NYC in a few days. Enjoy!
This place is the cutest. The atmosphere is eerily relaxing, perfect for spending some time with your favourite book, doing some work, or having an intimate conversation with a friend. The owner, Kubilay (previous owner of the awesome Turkish Delight restaurant), is always there with his wife and daughter. They make you feel like a guest in their home with their pleasant Turkish hospitality. The place serves delicious wraps with latcha bread that is delicious. Don't leave without trying the lemonade or their awesome Latte. Also their breakfast hot plates are quite unique. An awesome addition to this beautiful neighbourhood.
