Applebee's Grill - Gainesville

This is definitely not the usual Applebee's... I think they decide to become a night club with a restaurant inside of it after 9... We stopped in after we went to the German festival in Muenster Texas. It was pretty busy for a Saturday night it seemed like more of a club than a restaurant. We ordered the artichoke spinach dip and some sort of Queso that was OK but it wasn't even warm. The waitress came back a few times but didn't ask if everything was OK she just slid by and asked if we needed drinks. Which justifies my comment about it seeming more like a club. The saddest part was towards the end of our chips I find two hairs in the bottom and we both lost our appetite. Not once did the waitress come back by to ask how we were so I could even tell her she just came by grab the stuff and gave us our check. Other than all that it's a great idea for a small town. They just need more servers to accommodate the busy crowd.

Arrived around 7pm on a Friday service was super quick and friendly. We ordered the 2 for $35 deal and 4 alcoholic drinks, and both entrees were very good and worth the upcharge for blackened chicken and salmon. The drinks were a little light on the alcohol but still decent. The atmosphere was like a typical neighborhood joint on a Friday louder pop/rap music but not too loud to overpower any conversation. Overall, very pleasant experience with excellent service and entree quality.

Perfect margarita always rocks. Downside: NO FOOTBALL GAMES today! What bar doesn't air football games or play-offs? I watched 3 groups of people walk out bc UT game wasn't on!

We left before we were even seated, much less served. I'm sure they were short staffed. I can't say much about the food but I never saw a single employee. My partner and I ended up leaving when we checked the bar and saw no employee there either. Not caring about liquor money is a tell tale sign of poor service for us. My partners now informed me that he noticed staff in vicinity but they quickly scurried away from the host stand. Shame.

So far the boneless wings are tasty. We ordered the bourbon chicken and shrimp. I ordered Asian spice baby back ribs.
