Cute spot, but awful service and staff. I was super excited to come here. It wasn't crowded and I sat at the bar. There was only one other person in the place. After mentioning I was from out of town and would love suggestions, the bartender seemed to be more into her phone and food than helping me. I asked if there were flights which they clearly advertise (see one of the pictures I posted) and people have talked about them in reviews she said no. So I Ordered a Key Lime Wheat, which was good but just overall disappointing as I wanted to try several so I could order a pint of my favorite after. Guess they missed out on that sale, not sure the bartender would've cared as I'm sure pouring 4 small beers took more energy than one large. She also had no recommendations for me when I told her what I typically drink. Decided to order some food. I wasn't feeling the no flight situation and just went with a quick app because I wasn't feeling the need to stay as I wasn't enjoying myself. I went with the pretzel bites and cheese (as that's what I saw a lot of people post about)... the bartender didn't mention they switched to just a big pretzel, which is fine, but I'd be pointing out any differences (and expect that of others). It was ok but honestly tasted more like a sporting even pretzel. The beer cheese was just ok. It took about 15 mins with no other wait, can't imagine what the wait would be if they were busy. Also $14 for a pretzel... I guess I'm just spoiled in NC with our homemade pretzels for less money and better quality. It was clean, in a good location, decent music and lots of TVs that I'm sure are great on game day. If I lived here I might try it out again on another night hoping there was another bartender but being from out of town, I probably won't be back and not sure I'd recommend to anyone stopping through.
In my quest to try out all the breweries in Gainesville, I found myself at Big Top one night after work with some colleagues. They have a large open area floor plan with tables inside and out. It’s notable to say that they had plenty of seating and a whole shelf of board games that patrons could bring back to their table to play. The on-tap selection was good and I was able to find something up my alley. When it came to the food, though, that was another story. I usually have no problem picking something off a restaurant menu and in fact I’m usually stuck between 2-3 different choices. This was not the case at Big Top as nothing truly stood out to me. I ultimately went with the El Diablo burger that came with fries. The burger itself had pickled onions, jalapeños, and pico de gallo. It was a bit messy with the sauce and the fries (of which there weren’t that many) were a little overly-cooked and crunchy. It was worth trying Big Top but I think I’ll try out the other breweries in Gainesville first before I make a return visit.
Absolutely amazing! The food, the selection of beer, the staff and even the intellectual conversations from the other patrons all came together to make it my go to place for bar food .
Came here for lunch no waitress but just one employee doing everything while the managers sat there on computers. Food was okay order the big Pig Mac bowl but instead received one spicy bird Mac bowl since the lady taking order was distracted.
