Heading south in Anne Arundel County on Rt. 2 Ritchie Highway and after a few rights and lefts, we pull into a quaint harbor with a warm neighborhood feel. Sitting at the end of the road was Pirate's Cove, a restaurant which has a full working marina on the premises. No problem parking here. Once you step inside, you're immediately distracted by the unusual and clever trinkets that the restaurant sells in their small gift shop. In the main dining area, all the tables had a terrific view of the water, so much so, I felt I was in a houseboat, not a restaurant. We both had the crab cake platter for lunch. While the food was tasty, the vegetables were overcooked. The crab cake was good, but not wondrous. After ordering the additions, such as the cold drinks, salad, etc. I'm not sure if our bill was that significantly different from what one of the Annapolis restaurants would have charged. But a great ending to this meal was the selection of international coffees presented to us....we did succumb to this temptation and delightfully sipped away while we watched some mariners set sail on their boat. Our server was perky, so when I deemed that there was too much liquor in the drink, she quickly obliged me with a little more coffee in the mug. I am really looking forward to company visiting me, because when they do, I'm taking them to Pirate's Cove for a memorable dining experience.
