There was only one serving station for food, so all 200 guests had to wait in a long line to get something to eat. By the time I reached the front of the line, they had run out of alcohol. I ended up paying 55€ for a plate of potato and noodle salad and one glass of white wine. However, the castle where the restaurant is located is very beautiful.
Was taken to Cloonacauneen Castle restaurant as a treat one Saturday afternoon in April. Thought I was just going for a spin in car so was surprised to turn down the road for the castle. Arrived around 6pm and enjoyed a leisurely drink in the bar before heading to the table. We had soup and garlic mushrooms for starters. We ate almost the whole basket of the delicious breads before our starter. We enjoyed the chicken with whiskey sauce -sublime , the sirloin and the fillet steak cooked to our specs perfectly. The desserts were lovely . We had cheesecake and teas. The service was excellent both in the bar and the dining room. the waitress actually brought us on a short tour of the castle leaving out the bedrooms as they were full . We thought the garden was lovely and it would be an ideal place to eat as part of a large group or a Sunday lunch . The toilets were immaculate as was the rest of the establishment. loved the olde worlde feel . Would love to go again and try other foods or the bbqs . Friendly staff and good food . Local man enjoying drink and chat in bar made us feel at home. I wouldn't bring children in the evenings but Sunday lunch option looks good for families.
I brought my grandson to this restaurant for tea and dessert in the middle of the day and it was wonderful! The staff was incredibly friendly, giving my grandson a tour of the restaurant and treating him specially. It truly made our day and we will definitely be returning.
Visited 10 April 17 for Rosie s wedding. Fantastic place, traditional and warm welcome. Wedding food can be bland, this wasnt, great soup, succulent beef, fresh veg, sorbet then a colorful tasty desert too. Nice seating area outside, wedding was complete success, excellent.
Excellent Lunch on sundays, good selection of food always something i would like on. Lovely to start with complimentary warm bread and butter. Lunch portion size is excellent we never leave hungry. The girls are very friendly and alway try and fit us in even when they are very busy. Cloonacuneen Castle is a beautiful building with its stone wall and decor our guests are alway impressed. We have been for a few drinks in the bar in the evening can be quiet but very cosy.
