South Aran - Galway

Maria and Enda's restaurant is a beautiful surprise, as we could not imagine to find one of the best restaurant we ate in there. Sole was delicious, and I never tasted so beautifully cooked potatoes : herbs, butter, what was the secret ? Absolutely succulent ! We drank a very good Irish beer (that wanted to escape from its bottle ! South Aran restaurant is worth a reservation, do not miss while being on Inis Oirr. There is a possibility of staying overnight, as South Aran has a close B&B very well run and comfortable. Breakfasts are served at the restaurant, with a large choice of meals. Maria and Enda will love if you thank them in Gaelic (go raibh maith agat for one of them, go raibh maith agoibh for the two of them .

We spent a couple of nights here and had the opportunity to have a few meals at different restaurants on the island. This was by far the best dinner we had!!! If you are a foodie, go here! They take a lot of care to prepare wonderful, local and ethical dishes.

We had two dinners here with our Laura Nelkin Knit Ireland group. The food was deliciously prepared and the hosts were terrific. Very hard working couple creating dining memories on this beautiful Aran Island. I can't stop thinking about the delicious chicken in tarragon cream sauce we ate one night. If I ever travel back to Inisheer, I will most definitely be eating here!

Do yourself a huge favor and make a reservation at South Aran for dinner while at Inisheer. My husband and I stayed and ate there for one night during our honeymoon, and not only was it the best meal that we had in Ireland, but it is the best meal that we've EVER eaten. We started with the potato and chive soup and mushroom tart....I can't even explain how good they were. We then moved on to the linguine with fresh aran crab....indescribable. I don't even like pasta, and I'm telling you this was the best meal I've ever had. And then the sticky toffy cake....to end the meal. I honestly felt bad for every single person on the island who wasn't eating at South Aran for dinner. They had no idea what they were missing! The b+b is also wonderful! It is right on the Atlantic....and a very short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Seriously, Inisheer and South Aran were the absolute best part of our honeymoon, so much so that we have to put it in a separate category from all of the other places that we stayed and ate at on our trip because there was no competition! Recomendet that restaurant good tasty food love it.I was couple times and cant find it that good guility food in any place especialy apple cake really taste and owners very friendly and helpfull.
