We are on a 7 day walking tour with “Portugal Green Walks” and stayed 2 nights in Soajo. Our first night here we ate at Saber ao Borralho. The meal was definitely the very best we had in this region. I chose the fantastic meat option of veal and steak both were cooked to perfection with sides of vegetables and potatoes. My partner had the traditional salted cod which is so popular in Northern Portugal. Our two hosts Rosa and her husband recently returned from New York could not have been more helpful and welcoming. A great meal.
Super friendly waiter/ owner, nice decor, lovely local white wine and a great array of nibbles for appetizers (which, as is often the case in Portugal I believe, gets put down on the table when you sit down and added to the bill at the end....but well worth the extra few euros). Main course food was good, probably same standard as the other places in town with similar choice of menu. Given there's only three restaurants in soajo, I'm sure you'll end up eating in all of them during a stay of more than a couple of days: make sure you include this one!
