The Beer Garden Buns&bases - Gansbaai

The place has changed name and owners few times, so this review is for the Beer Garden (Dec 2022). Cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. The pizzas are very good. Overall slightly on the expensive side but worth it. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We planned to dine out the 1st of January instead of cooking. The place we intended to visit, Pizza Shack, told us they are open, but neglected to tell us the kitchen will ne closed. So we phoned up beer garden at 8pm, desperate for an open restaurant as it was not only Sunday, but a holiday. They not only accommodated us, but waited for us to finish without rushing us out. They intended to close at 9 and we left well after. The food was very good. They have whalecoast on tap and they even offered us coffee, even though it wasn't on the holiday limited menu. Will definitely support them again! I've been going to Pearly Beach/ Uilkraal/ Gansbaai/ Baardskeerdersbos my entire 32 year life and this is by far the best service we have ever received at a restaurant in the area. Friendly staff, good food, clean, accessible, child friendly and beer on tap. Everything we want from a restaurant.

Very nice selection of beers and a great menu. The pizza bases are super, just wish there was a tad less cheese on them. The cheese burger and chicken curry were awesome! Very attentive and friendly service and a lovely beer garden with plenty of comfy seating and a playground for kids. They are dog-friendly too. We'll definitely go back! Absolutely delicious pizza. Like wow. We had the biltong and Brie pizza, in addition to a steak. The steak was good, if a bit overcooked. The chimichurri was a great compliment to it. As far as beers, the Whale Coast Brewing selection was fine, and they have bigger commercial options as well. But the pizza was an absolute shining star. I’ll be thinking about this pizza for weeks.
