Restaurant Alpspitze am Osterfelderkopf

The views are good but the terrace is perhaps on the wrong side for the best views. The terrace could be a pumping place when it's busy and the bar is operating. The food is cafeteria style but I had a plate of Bavarian meats, cheese and veges at a decent price (packed some up for later on the hike). Staff were nice.

Das Restaurant befindet sich direkt auf dem Gipfel des Osterfelderkopfs, einem kleinen Nebengipfel der berühmten Alpspitze und hat seine Tore im Winter für Skifahrer und im Sommer für Wanderer und Ausflügler geöffnet. Am einfachsten erreicht man das Restaurant (sowie die heiß umstrittene Aussichtsplattform Alpspix) mit der Alpspitzbahn, am schönsten durch die Höllentalklamm über den Rindersteig und die Rinderscharte. Das Prunkstück des Hauses ist selbstverständlich die fantastische Aussicht von der großen Panoramaterrasse auf die nahe Alpspitze sowie die umgebenden Gipfel des Wettersteingebirges. Allerdings braucht sich die Küche auch nicht zu verstecken: an der Selbstbedienungstheke gibt es kassische Bayerische Hütten- und Schmorgerichte und außerdem den guten und frisch gebratenen "Alpspitzburger". Mein Rindergulasch war aber auch nicht zu verachten. Preislich OK, gerne wieder.

Wir waren zum Mittag im Bergrestaurant und konnten uns an einen Tisch dazusetzen. Man musste etwas anstehen, aber Sonntags bei herrlichem Sonnenschein nicht ungewöhnlich und zu erwarten. Das Essen war gut und schnell, die Preise fair. Der Spinatknödel wurde leider aufgetaut und war auch nach fast 10min Wartezeit innen noch gefroren. Schade, aber dafür gibt es Abzug. Sonst alles tipptopp und schon wegen der tollen Aussicht zu empfehlen!

When you sit outside on terrace of this place you have a wonderful view at the Alpspitz. That alone makes it worth coming here. Also, staff was friendly and Kaiserschmarrn was delicious.

We found the Restaurant Alpspitze am Osterfelderkopf when we exited the cable car station. We were visiting to see the overlook and the beautiful views. The outdoor grill smelled so good that I had to go inside to see what they had to offer. What a neat restaurant! Wonderful indoor seating too. I got the Goulash, which was fantastic. Others in our group got different meals and they were all amazing. And decent prices. The beer of course was yummy. We took our food to the outdoor seating area, since it was so nice and warm in the sun. it may be a bit expensive to just come up here to eat, if you are coming up to see the views, the food would be a bonus. I would certainly eat there again.
