When we entered at 18:30 hr the waitress said they only open at 19:00 hr... and send us and our 2 small kids (1 and 3 years old back outside to wait when it was 5 degrees... Then the menu was not explained well and it seemed we were charged quite a lot for food that was advertised outside as good value. Also, the waitress was not friendly, forgot sauce for the steak and was constantly away (to smoke or texting on her phone? . We tried to speak the best French we could, but the waitress did not seem to be helpful towards us at all. If service was better this would be a nice place!
We came upon Le Lion D'Or by luck after staying in a hotel near Toulouse which disappointed us on all levels. The young owner has just got it right..we had lunch here...the food was absolutely delicious..we had 2 courses of the table d"hote menu.my husband had the most delicious risotto with salmon. I had roasted chicken in a lovely just.obviously made with fresh chicken stock and the creaminess comes puree.followed by pannacotta and fresh fruit. Perfect ! We spied steak tartare and other lovely plates.... all looked good. The restaurant was full..one group sampling obviously some excellent local wines.. The owners deserve to be really successful.we saw that it is a hotel as well...we will definitely stay there if en route to the south.. Thankyou for showing that it is still possible to make a success of a new venture in the middle of France...goes to show that if you get it right...it works !
Couldn't fault the food or service; at 66 euros for 2 (comprising 2 x 3-course menus at 25 euros per person, plus drinks) we felt we had had a very, very good meal at a very reasonable price, and the service was friendly too. Hence lots of locals dining there. We would definitely return. Just found the decor (spacious, modern) maybe a little bleak, ambiance maybe a little lacking. Location is opposite the church; there are a few parking spaces right outside, and other street parking close by.
Just trend up at 12/30 and got the last table . Food from local producers and well presented and seasonal . Although busy service was good and didn’t have to wait or felt as we were being rushed. Wish I could go back again tomorrow but will be back again soon
Nice welcome and tables well spaced apart. Sat in the garden area and felt safe with staff wearing masks as well as customers, until seated. 4 adults and 3 children all enjoyed a really good meal. I had duck and I think it was the best I have had in a restaurant. My fussy daughter had steak and had no complaints. Looking forward to going back next year.
