Food is average, expected much more from it. Concept could be better and paid around 90 dollars each. Would not come a second time
When we arrived, we were greeted by the head of Casa Felix - a nice Argentine man. However, that was the last interaction we had with anyone from Argentina. The "host" was a 20-something guy from California that didn't know much about the country or speak Spanish fluently. He was also the person that introduced each course. He told us that the fish was "white salmon," later correcting himself to say "a special type of trout from patagonia." He also didn't know what sole fish was, which was in the aguachile course. The food was fine - nothing to rave about, but also not bad. It was pretty much just eating in a patio area with 10 other travelers (all currently living in the US). I wouldn't recommend it or go back.
Some things are sometimes better left to themselves. Not this chef's house and restaurant. A non descript address, but entering this house at 9.30 pm was the start of one of the best food experience I have ever had. Chef Diego Felix welcomes you to his house with a dozen or so people, initially in his garden then into his dinning room. Once the front door is closed then the food odyssey starts with a set menu, and what an experience. Each of the seven course meal was perfectly chosen, orchestrated and cooked. Paired with some great Malbec this was an evening of delight and pleasures for the palate. Do not miss this place. One that will keep you talking about the evening for a long while. Very surprisingly affordable in US dollars. Thank you Diego for such an evening. A very talented chef.
Casa Felix was the best meal I had during a 5 day trip to Buenos Aires. The experience was unique, the food was terrific, and the service was super warm and friendly. It felt like a delicious and fun dinner party at a good friend's home. Alvaro and the Casa Felix team also went out of the way to accommodate our particular food sensitivities. I went to other "closed door" restaurants in BA, and Casa Felix stood out from the rest. I loved it.
