The Germantown Holiday Inn Express didn’t match up though. This is an old property (I wonder what brand it was before HIE. They’ve remodeled the lobby but that’s pretty much lipstick on a pig. The room furnishings are ancient. The room’s TV is about 32” and circa 2005. The bathroom is so small I had to step out to change my mind. Ridiculously small. Now, let’s discuss the complimentary breakfast. First, we never saw the attendant the entire time we were in the breakfast area. They had no forks (first time I ever ate scrambled eggs with a spoon! ; no waffle maker, and the coffee was so strong I found it undrinkable. The only reason I gave this hotel 2 bubbles instead of 1 is the front desk crew. They were pleasant and welcoming. Overall, I’d suggest finding alternative lodging in Germantown.
We were stopping on the road. They did have a room for us. 1 king bed and a stall shower. The room was very clean. The saff were very friendly and helpfull. The morning breakfast was a little dissapointing. They did have eggs, sausage, and bagles, but no toast or english muffins.
In town visiting family and friends after the holiday. The king bed was very comfortable but I am short and it was pretty tall for me. Pillows are my favorite out of any hotel. Cleanliness was very good and I really appreciated the daily housekeeping. Shower water pressure was like a jet coming out, invigorating but wow was it super fast! Overall aside from some noise which the hotel cannot control, I had a pleasant stay and will look to book again if coming to town.
It was very nice that because I am an IHG platinum member I was upgraded to a suite which with a separate living room and full kitchen. The staff was very friendly. The free breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold food. But…they use a disinfectant spray which smells like a dryer sheet and the odor really bothered me. All the rooms are sprayed with this so switching rooms would not make a difference. If you are sensitive to smells I would NOT recommend this hotel. The bed was high for me to get into (I’m 5’2” and was on the firm side. All in all a very nice hotel and I would have given it a 5 without the odor issue.
The room was nice; the cleaning staff polite and efficient. However, we had to leave the hotel a day early. The lobby, our floor, and the elevators were filled with people ignoring the county 's Covid guidelines. Young teens were playing soccer in the hallway, bouncing balls off the walls and door. When I called the front desk, they promised Security would check on them. That never happened. The kids kept banging on our door and running, including after I got their ball and took it to the lobby. The hotel staff seemed indifferent to any of this. Most of the time they could be found sitting in chairs in the lobby, while chaos ruled above. Our holiday was ruined, and we 'll never stay in Holiday Inn properties again.
