Evening meal taken at the Lucien bistro. Young and welcoming team, Theo has been good advice...Cuisine excellent.
The welcome is warm, which is always pleasant after a long journey. The room was very comfortable. Only small flat on the lack of light (chambre les corbeaux), point possible to improve I think. The premises are very pleasant and all the hotel part I liked. Charming and coming staff. Everything about the hotel is more and I'll be back with pleasure. About the restaurant, on the other hand, we are far from the account and it seems to me clearly under the Michelin star. That's why. We arrived at the table: the table was stubborn (great black task visible next to the plate) and the bench table. At my request, we were gladly changed table, but it's a disappointing start. The proposed kitchen offers well-made and good dishes, but it lacks the grain of madness, the little more that makes you remember the dish and that you are told that you are in a restaurant deserving the Michelin star. The pigeon for example is perfectly roasted, but what differentiates it from another good gastro restaurant? Another example: snails are in a very good sauce, but they do not taste too much. We're in a good gastro, but nothing unforgetable on the kitchen. On the wine side (because we rarely come to Burgundy by chance), the card is attractive, the sommelier knows his subject very well when asked, but he doesn't make us dream from the very beginning. The wine map is huge, what is it useful to leave it next to me hours, without trying to guide me from the outset to what can interest me? Little odd, we make Monsieur taste, never Madam, and when I ask that we make Madame taste, we don't worry about whether she liked it. Anyway. Another approximation that spoils the experience: we started a bottle at the bar that was to be transferred to our table, which took time and we were asked again if we wanted an aperitif while a bottle was already open. On the side, the waiter teaches us that the bar is a river fish, it's always interesting to learn. In the toilet upstairs, no paper dispensers on the wall, just a basket of wicker on the floor that contains the reels. Um... The hotel part of Chambertin's roasting shop looks great and a great value for money. I'll be back with pleasure. On the other hand the restaurant part seems to me far from the level necessary to get a Michelin star and is today from my point of view a good gourmet table, without more.
Excellent cuisine with one of the best wine selections, Gevrey Chambertin obviously...
We loved our 3-night stay in the Les Amoureuses Suite. Thanks Lucie, Maude, Alexis, and the whole team! What to say also restaurants and wine bar (the tasting was excellent)... it was an enchantment! Thank you so much for welcoming us and making our weekend so special!
