I work at the visitor information centre and often get asked where are the best fish and chips. The current owners of Cod Fathers have won this standing in my opinion, lightly battered fish, a good sized serving of fries and the very best cole slaw I have ever tasted. She makes her own dressing.
Had high hopes after reading reviews, restaurant area needs a good clean it was very dirty inside, as we waited for our food we were interested in all the articles regarding new owners and how proud they are to be in gibsons so was expecting good food at least, ordered cod and chips, I watched the girl make everything so was shocked when it was all luke warm and batter squishy , fish portion was tiny and just nasty, chips warm, thats when I realised that the oil could not have been hot enough when cooking dont think I will ever visit here again just not clean enough for meand food very poor standard
The Cod Fathers is just a ways south of the Sunshine Coast Highway but it's a find in terms of the food and reasonable prices. The premises are somewhat tiny but housekeeping is good (neat and tidy). I would recommend the Mom's Platter (cod, salmon, oysters, calamari and fries) for about $25........enough for a light lunch for two adults.
We visited Cod Fathers on our "Taste of the Landing" tour. The fish and chips taste we got was fabulous! The fish was delicious and the fries were nice and crispy. Will definitely return.
