This place was hard to find, because the signage Le Petit Giverny seemed to be obstructed by overhanging tree foliage. They need to attend to this! It seems that the hotel/restaurant is now under new management and is currently somewhat run down, and in need of a lot of TLC. There was on site parking, although it wasn 't particularly secure, at the back of the hotel/restaurant, and this area was very unkempt and in need of refurbishment. Still there was parking, which was appreciated. When we realised that we were at the right place, we entered the restaurant area and had a very sullen and uninterested welcome (if you can call it that! by a young man in the restaurant area (and we had to find him! who pointed to the staircase, at the top of which was our room. No offer of help with our luggage, no lift, nothing. We nearly ate in the restaurant but decided to go with our original choice of a restaurant in the village. There were also very few people in the restaurant when we returned from that meal. We can 't comment on the food because we didn 't eat there. We advised the surly young man that we had to make an early start the following morning, so we paid him later in the afternoon by credit card. Imagine our embarrassment and shock when we received a phone call the following morning (while driving to our next destination from the manager (Benjamin to say that we had left without paying. We quickly put him straight, that we had paid the surly young man the previous afternoon/early evening by credit card, and he accepted that. But it was very embarrassing and we weren 't impressed! Our room was on the small side, and quite sparsely furnished, but it was adequate, although there were not enough power points for us to use. There was a bit of room to swing a cat, but not much more than that. Two bottles of mineral water were provided, but provision of soap and shower gel in the bathroom was poor. But the shower/bathroom (no bath, just a shower cubicle and sink was excellent. for what we got though, it was expensive, we paid 116.50 euros (which didn 't include breakfast we felt it was overpriced by at least 40 euros. There was music downstairs in the restaurant and we were concerned that it would be disturbing us at night, but that concern was unfounded. We are glad we didn 't eat there. We asked where we should leave our room key when we made our early departure, and were requested to leave it on the fridge lid in the outside dining area which we didn 't think was that secure, but we did what we were asked and it 's their problem. oh, and the lock to our room (the LH side one on the landing was pretty difficult to use too. This place needs a lot of attention and some staff training too!
While the atmosphere is very nice and not so busy, the food is average. If you do not expect mouth watering food, this is a good choice in Giverny with friendly staff
Delict restaurant, but a shame that the waiting time between each dish is not measured (more than 1h30 in total! . It seems to me that when we lack staff, we do not allow ourselves to accommodate so many customers. In the end, we pay the bill, and nothing has been proposed...
