On check out we found we had been billed for the most expensive wine on the menu after ordering " house" red. Not sure if it really was as it did not taste special and 3 bottles between the families of unordered €56 a bottle wine left a bad taste!
L'annexe is a little bit out of the main road in Givry. It is nicely decorated and service is good. Service but it is toooo slow. Food is good, not great. Conclusion: good food, good value for money. Not great. There are better options in the region.
I booked rooms at L'Annex. We were due to visit at the height of the French petrol crisis, when the tanker drivers blockaded the refineries and the news channels were reporting there was no petrol available in many parts of France. In order to decide if we could get to and from Givry as planned I contacted them to find out what the local situation was; I tried by email and via the form on my booking site but they never replied. Without any local information I was forced to cancel and they charged me the full price of the reservation!Be very cautious before dealing with them.
Had the mushroom velute, Jan had the 'poultry' spring roll things. Both were lovely. Main course was Pork, which was really excellent. Pudding was fromage blanc with apricot compote and a crumble topping. Very good wine (Givry) to wash it all down with.It may have changed hands, but is still excellent !
By this lunch I was just about over my 'overindulgence' stomach. It was great to eat lunch here because it was much more of a modern, light, style after all these more delicious but traditional french meals. Again, I was with a group so it was a preset meal. The food was tasty but much more modern, not so heavy on the butter, more vegetables and salad, smaller portions. It felt more like a lighter meal, lunch which I welcomed. Worth the stop in for lunch!
