Food is pretty good for the price, especially the laksa and hainanese chicken with flavoured rice. It is not too oily but delicious at the same time. Laksa was also very hearty but again, not overly heavy with little bits of chicken breast on top. The char kuey teow was a huge disappointment though with a lack of flavour, tiny bits of meat and overall blandness.
Two friends and I went for dinner at this Singaporean restaurant. The owner and a waitress can speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. They were the only two who served the customers when I was there. They were very busy running around and taking care of the customers ' needs. <br/ <br/ The food was above average. The hainanese chicken was the best among all the dishes. The chicken was very soft and tasty with some green onions and oil as a sauce. The flavour rice tasted excellent as well. We ordered Mee Goreng (pan fried noodles with some tofu and pork). It was alright. Not the best. We also ordered a dish of wok fried green beans with Belachen. It was okay. Asians would like the flavour of Belachen but probably not Caucasians. Caucasians might not be able to stand for the 'smelly ' flavour of Belachen. <br/ <br/ We ordered pearl barley tea for drinks instead of coffee, tea or pops. It was healthier. <br/ <br/ The restaurant was busy, so if you didn 't want to wait, you should call and make reservation ahead of time. <br/ <br/ The prices and service were fine. This restaurant is a small authentic Singaporean restaurant, so don 't expect the service is going to be like a 4 or 5 star western restaurant. But if you like Asian or Singaporean/Malaysian food, this restaurant is a good choice for you!
In conclusion, food was passable, but I still like my Prata-Man more. Service was satisfactory for the environment, they bring you the food, you eat without them bothering you, you pay. Don’t expect anymore more. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but I wouldn’t reject the idea if it was the only choice given.
Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Price: Avg.$12/person<br/ Return: MUST come back AGAIN AGAIN… Must try item(s): Combo for 2 people or Hainan (Steamed) Chicken<br/ <br/ Hainan Chicken is one my favourite must eat items while I was traveling in Singapore. So every time when I was craving for Hainan Chicken on rice, I would like to go to Coco Hut to have lunch with my wife. Their food quality might not be the best in town, but the taste and the texture are just so good and very closed to what I had in Singapore. Their Combo for 2 people is very good deal, it comes with 2 Appetizers, 2 Entrée, and 2 Drinks to choose from the Combo Menu. Guess how much is it? It is only 20.95 plus tax.<br/ <br/ Follow me for exploring the good food with me :D
