The meal was excellent with the whole of our group being happy with their meal (10 people). For dessert we all had the bday cake that was brought by a friend and the staff presented this cake for us on individual plates as if it was their own product. Great to have a high standard restaurant with a great atmosphere at Tannum.
I had lunch with friends on Saturday 4th August, the food looked awesome and didn't take long to come out, unfortunately my chicken in the salad wasn't totally cooked ( it was raw in the middle) I just moved it to one side but I should have sent it back. I told the staff and they apologized and they checked with the chef he said he only checked one piece and apologized and offered desert or a beverage and that I would receive a discount. I didn't want to eat anything by then so no thanks, But only received $5 of the meal but couldn't actually eat it. Raw chicken is a serious health hazard so I'm dissapointed. Expected better basic cooking 1 0 1 .
Rock Salt was a wonderful venue to celebrate our cousins 25th wedding anniversary . The ambience suited the occasion. The service was great and Mary could not do enough to make the night special. The food too was great. We particularly recommend the 3 cheese stuffed mushrooms. Delicious! Also the chickpea chips. Yumm! In fact we could not fault any of the dishes.....and being a party of 5, we tried quite a few dishes, even the shared tasting plate. An excellent addition to the menu. All in all, an excellent night. Also great value for money. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Decided to test out Rocksalt for a brekky and dinner and had mixed results.Brekky was generous portions for eggs & toast, coffee was actually quite smooth and well prepared, would go back again for a coffee. Prices are a little more on the pricey side. Service was good, not exceptional always room to improve though. Dinner was disappointing. The salt & pepper calamari entree was quite tasty, well cooked and aioli had good flavour. Then the main came. Pork Belly. Was the worst pork Belly I've ever eaten. The veggies were done well, but the pork had good flavour bit fatty and not much meat. The crackling was like cardboard. No flavour whatsoever. And had no salt at the table to season. The service was some of the worst I've experienced. It was booked out-busy and to stand and wait for minutes on end to be seen by staff but not even acknowledged was disgraceful. Prices for meals are more so expensive than budget. Personally didn't feel this place provides good value for money overall.
Recently coming from the Hunter Valley, I have found it difficult to find restaurants in Gladstone that are not pub style and offer quality food. This so far is the best one I have found. Had a dinner here of 12hr Rib with mash, spinach, red wine jus and cooked medium. It was pretty tasty but the beef was actually Sirloin - not rib as was on the menu at the time which was a little fatty and a bit tough. So, I was a tad disappointed but the flavour made up for it. The mash was spot on. Yum, yum, yum. We both also had creme brulee for dessert which was nice also. The staff were friendly but perhaps not educated enough in the wines on offer. We were also seated near the aircon unit on the balcony which was pretty loud when it kicked in - so not the most romantic of tables. Overall, pretty good. We will return again.
