It was about 20 minutes from our hotel. We throughly enjoyed the environment, the beer, and the food. We got the fried mushrooms which were fried perfectly and paired with their pub sauce. He got a cheeseburger with a fried egg and I got a veggie pizza with a salad. We were both happy with our meals! I’m so excited to eat my leftovers. Also the beer was fantastic as well and there is a beer for everyone to try. Plus we were lucky and got to listen to some live music. We highly recommend checking out this place if you are in the area!
I walked in and grabbed a seat at the bar. Within a minute someone got my order for a beer and gave me a menu. About 5 minutes later they took my order. There were 5 people at the bar and about a dozen others at tables.40 minutes later as I sat there waiting on another beer or food, someone asked if I had my food. Well, no. That big empty spot on front of me is a pretty good indication.10 minutes later I get what was a pretty good hamburger and some cold soggy fries. I did manage to get another beer when I was served.25 minutes later I’m waving a credit card around hoping someone sees me so I can pay.I must have been invisible from the first beer until I got someone’s attention 20-30 minutes after I finished my mealBeen here a few times but I’m done with this.
My husband and I were staying in a B&B around the corner. We stopped in at Yancey’s initially to start with some flights. We ended up staying the whole evening. We had the best time on a Thursday night! The owner greeted us, let us know what to expect at his brewery, and humbly acknowledged how this night was going to unfold. There was a community club meeting happening at the restaurant but he was sure to promise us the Thursday night steak special. We enjoyed the hustle and bustle that came along with the crowd. The staff was great, they piggybacked off each other and they all seemed to enjoy working together. We truly enjoyed ourselves at this small town establishment. They are doing great things to revitalize the historic downtown area. Highly recommend this quaint ol’ friendly brewery.
Our experience left a bad first impression. We were so excited to finally have a date night and be able to stop by for drinks and the live band playing. Music was great and the place was only half full in the main restaurant. But after waiting 45 minutes for the drinks (a beer and house mixed drink) we order to arrive we walked out. About 20 minutes after ordering the young waitress walked up and rudely asked if we needed anything like she forgot we had already ordered. Either she never put our order in to start with or was clueless why we were just sitting at a table with nothing to drink. It wasn’t busy, but according to the couple next to us, the place is hit or miss and that night was a huge miss….missing the money we would have spent on drinks and food for a few hours. Apparently they were hosting a party down stairs and a biker club in the back in addition to marketing their live music night. Seems like a cool place but I won’t be taking the gamble of returning for awhile.
Absolutely yummy food and great beer. The hamburger was delicious and the onion rings were perfect. Super nice people, great atmosphere. Will return. If you find yourself downtown, make the stop. If your not downtown, drive there, it's worth it.
