We booked for the excursion to Hampden Park because, as we arrived a little early, we needed to find a place to eat. Fortunately, we found Clockwork Beer Co. The menu was quite varied and had a reasonable price. The staff was efficient and we wouldn't hesitate to return to Clockwork.
I was at the Scotland v San Marino match at Hampden and I had always avoided going to Clockwork on match days because it was usually too crowded. However, with the low excitement surrounding the match, I decided to go early to meet some friends, have a few beers, grab some lunch, and watch the Rugby World Cup.
Promoted as Glasgow's only authentic ale pub and brewery, this establishment is a must-visit. We decided to have dinner here as well. Despite the large selection of beers, which was a bit overwhelming at first, the atmosphere was very welcoming. The beers are not served in standard hand pumps, but they are indeed real ales. We chose Clockwork ales, which were a great choice. The menu was simple, making it easy to decide, and our food arrived hot and delicious. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. For those coming from Glasgow Central, the round-trip train fare is only £2.20 per person, so there's no excuse not to come and check it out.
I only come here occasionally as a meeting place before my friends and I go elsewhere. The bar staff's attitude towards customers is shocking. There are always plenty of them working, but they would rather pretend they haven't seen you than serve you. It took me 10 minutes to get served on Friday and it wasn't even busy. When you do finally get served, you are met with a lackluster attitude. Clockwork is a nice-looking pub that is spacious and clean, but the staff are terrible. I would recommend avoiding it at all costs.
