I booked it a double for my husband and me and he’s pretty pissed off at the star of it. When we arrived it was configured as a twin “It was meant to be a double”, I said. “Ach, you can push beds together if you want” said with a shrug) The bedroom is filthy. Not said lightly. It is filthy. When we pushed the beds together to make a double, we wished we hadn’t. There was years of dust underneath and behind the beds. The carpet was ripped. The room was BOILING hot. There is black mould in the shower and dust on every surface in the bathroom. At the moment several wee black flies are buzzing around the room. I’d rather be on a night out, but felt compelled to post NOW. I’ll update in the morning. Dust heaps in the corner. And the loo brush was just insanitary see photos). There’s now a loud beeping noise like an alarm from the next door room. Won’t stop. So annoying. To be continued….
Food fabulous but restaurant is freezing we had to ask staff twice about the lack of heating,we ending up having 2 drink's taken off bill (we did not ask for this) thinking we are not the only customers to complain about the place being so cold. Staff super friendly and on the he ball but won't return until ins the summer.
This is a very good pub with great pub food but it’s freezing and I’m not exaggerating. They are trying to heat the whole pub with a fire at one end of the bar, if your not sitting at the fire your going to be cold. I don’t nor bother with the cold but even I struggled with it and when I looked around the bar most people we’re sitting with jackets on and some even had their hats on. I get energy prices are through the roof but if you want your customers to stay and drink you nee to make them comfortable and at least warm. Our party of 8 had our food and moved on to somewhere warmer. Note to the owner. You cannot hope to heat the whole bar area with a small fire at one end when you have a double door in the middle and it’s -2 outside.
Travelled through from Edinburgh for a catch up with friends having booked this restaurant. A little surprised on arriving to see how small the dining area was. For some reason I had expected a proper dining area but it’s basically tables and chairs placed around a bar. Getting to the meal, two of the four of us had soup to start and both soups were said to be nice. Cullen Skink and the soup of the day Scotch Broth. Mains chosen were steak pie times three and fish and chips. The pie was delicious. Plenty of very tender meat and gravy inside and crusty pastry. Lovely mash with carrots and peas. The fish was reported to be a little dry. Two of us opted for the sticky toffee pudding with yummy sauce and ice cream. Again delicious. All in all we had a lovely time here. Most of the tables were busy by the time we left. Shout out to the two young servers who were very friendly. Service was quick and efficient.
We had some good beers and lovely food in this pub. It was the first time we tried haggis, and it was great. We also had a lovely salmon (we share our meals). The service was good and they recommended nice bars to see football. I would recommend this place.
