Christmas month so we gave it a bit of leeway regarding seating. Did get one which required cleaning. My wife went to order at the bar to be told that there was no White Wine- suggested Prosecco as a substitute! Order apparently had not arrived. Meals arrived- fish and chips. Fish reasonable but chips inedible! Found a slice of lemon under the fish. Strange place for it to be. When the waitress asked if everything was OK, we informed her of the cremated chips and she immediately responded by saying but the fish was good? This pub is attempting to be a Pseudo-Irish pub but dismally fails in that it not only provides mediocre food but could really do with a deep clean and some decor titivation. Glasgow, residents of Glasgow and visitors to this lovely city deserve more. There is too many other better establishments to choose.
Bought a drink at the bar and it tasted off asked for a replacement but gas in mixer needed replaced and no bottled left staff did not communicate what was happening so I went downstairs to bar for mixer and then brought it to original bar to add to a new drink unsure why staff could not have done this instead of me, the customer, who had to queue at both bars. 10 minutes after being served was then told it was time to leave the bar and make our way outside despite recently having been served drinks with no mention of last orders or drinking up time. Seemingly it had to be now due to the licence but no prior warning, I felt staff were rude. I would not have just bought drinks if I’d known this was the case. Very poor service, staff rude throughout, not interested in the customer just taking your money. Have been going to waxys for 20 years but will not be back.
There seems to be an issue with a particular member of door staff within the establishment. This evening in particular, I left through the main door and ommunicated that I would return within 5 minutes and was then told I was not allowed to return within that set period of time. On asking for any form of identification the same ddorstsff refused to provide anything and them deferred to the owner on the street having a cigarette.
Absolutely farcical! Couldn’t get served at any bar. Finally got the attention of 1 barman, tried to order he walked away from us! Pretty filthy too my coat was marked with grease ? from the walls. There are plenty of places in Glasgow to spend my money so won’t be returning here.
An Irish bar that cannot give you an Irish coffee, also bar staff not very helpful. Bar man did not acknowledge me while I stood waiting to be served while he had a chat, don't mind him having a chat but his priority was chatting and not serving customers.
