My husband is West Indian and grew up entirely on Caribbean cooking so we had pretty high expectations of how the food should taste, and I have to say we weren't disappointed. The staff were friendly and welcoming and Adam the owner came out, introduced himself to us and greeted us like a friend. The canteen reminded us of places we have been on the islands, colourful, relaxed with cool music and a good vibe and old photos showing the owner's Caribbean background. The food was delicious and seasoned well. Really yummy jerk chicken with a nice little kick. The fried chicken had beautiful flavor as did the other dishes we had, especially the Bickle chicken bites, all washed down beautifully with some fantastic cocktails.I would definitely recommend Bickle. The flavors of the Caribbean are certainly here.
I haven't eaten much Caribbean food before and have never (not yet anyway), been to the Caribbean...but if the food over there is anything like Bickle's offering..book me a flight! The Jerk chicken is super tasty as are the Bickle bites and the Mac
After spending some time in the Caribbean, I returned and decided to visit a restaurant that recently opened in my neighborhood while I was away.
Having lived in the UK where there is a vibrant Caribbean community, I have been eagerly anticipating an authentic Caribbean restaurant in Melbourne.
