Been meaning to try this place for a while. Food was very good. Had the chicken with apricots. Yum. 2 for 1 coctails on fri and sat night were good too. Will be back.
A group of about 10 of us had a happy mid-week dinner here. The entrees and mains and vegie side dishes we shared were all pretty good.Details could be improved. We had requested the big table in the rear room. Fortunately the organiser rang to confirm: the booking had been lost. The room has an awful acoustic. There is a huge mirror, which the person facing it found off-putting, and there is a huge ugly stretch of duct pipe across one corner. Our waiter (English accent) was alert: no problems there. The fish ran out, so we accepted prawns as a substitute when ordering a second serve. There are few dessert options and few vegetables. The 'vegetarian' offerings are essentially cous cous and potatoes. Not all the wines on the menu proved to be available. One person enjoyed a cocktail. Most mains are slow-cooked, so cheaper cuts 'on the bone' are used; not a problem unless you (wrongly) expect prime cuts.
This gorgeous little restaurant is Balaclava's secret!Amazingly Delicious Traditional Moroccan food!Typical authentic affair on offer! But must try the Prawns, stuffed potatoes, meatballs, apricot & date chicken. The hero of the menu is without a doubt the Top Rib! Meat melts off the bone! So delicious! The restaurant is quaint bright & clean, with a hidden Courtyard at rear, & a beautiful private dining room available for larger bookings or for a private banquet dining. Cocktails available with 'happy hour' offered on a Friday evening, perfect for predinner drinks.Easy public transport accessibility from Balaclava train station, only 100-200metres away, tram stop almost outside door . Plenty of car parking behind the shops. Ticks lots of boxes!Highly recommend!
Slowly cooked Top rack of beef is mouthwatering slow cooked in olive oil. Their food has really improved since when they first started 6 months ago. The way they marinade their chicken wings is to die for. The pita bread is the softest homemade one ever made. Run by an amazing Moroccan family. Reasonable couscous and tasty dips. Alcoholic drinks are also on offer there, fresh juices. Reasonably cheap for an amazing variety of tonnes of food. It is a cheap eat but also a very delicious mouth watering eat. The thirty minutes of waiting for the top rack is definitely worth the wait.
